Improving European-wide consumer electronics goods end-to-end supply chain daily deployments - using advanced planning scheduling
The Situation
PHILIPS Consumer Electronic required an experience advanced planning & scheduling (APS) business solutions consultant in Eindhoven, Netherlands.
In particular, expertise was required in supply chain planning and scheduling within the European Programme (Solution Competence centre FILOCITY). The FILOCITY programme was recognised with the implementation depth and breadth winner award at the i2 Technologies User Group Global Direction Ken Sharma Awards.
The specific assignment focused on supporting the i2 Technologies software (now owned by Blue Yonder/JDA acquisition) implementation project for European Daily Deployment Scheduling within the Philips CE supply chain network.
The Task
His primary task was to provide specialist hands-on functional and application integration consulting support for the i2 Technologies project having successfully implemented this solution at our clients sites.
This involved the management and test acceptance of application integration data flows across Philips’ live (kernel) Global Demand Planning, Master Planning systems, Oracle orphan/stage databases, and SAP transaction systems.

His key actions included:
- Functional Consulting Support: Provided specialist functional expertise for the i2 project implementations related to European Daily Deployment Scheduling.
- Application Integration Consulting: Provided hands-on consulting support for the integration of the i2 solution with Philips’ existing systems landscape.
- Data Flow Management: Managed the data flows required for application integration across Global Demand Planning, Master Planning, Oracle databases, and SAP systems.
- Test Acceptance: Conducted and managed test acceptances of the integrated application data flows to ensure proper functionality.
- Solution Prototyping: Developed a solution prototype for the European Daily Deployment Scheduling.
- Solution Design and Documentation: Contributed to the design and documentation of the finalised European Daily Deployment solution, in preparation for global rollout.
- User Acceptance Management: Secured user acceptance sign-off for both the functioning prototype and the final delivered system.
- Quality Assurance and Testing: Quality assured stage and integration tested application flows to ensure compliance with Philips CE landscape procedures.
