Service Summary

Fractional leadership to mobilise, recover and deliver complex cyber transformation programmes with clear governance, accountable delivery and measurable outcomes.

Typical Benefits

  • Clear direction and control over complex or stalled cyber transformation programmes.
  • Stronger governance and accountability, with clear ownership, priorities, decisions and escalation routes.
  • Faster mobilisation and recovery where programmes have lost momentum, direction or stakeholder confidence.
  • Improved executive visibility through concise reporting focused on risk, outcomes, dependencies and decisions.
  • Alignment across business, technology, security and operational teams, reducing delivery friction and ambiguity.
  • Measurable progress against cyber risk and remediation priorities, rather than activity without demonstrable outcomes.
  • Experienced senior leadership without requiring a permanent appointment, suitable for defined transformations, recovery assignments or fractional engagements.

Overview

My approach is deliberately pragmatic and proportionate to the engagement. I establish the current position quickly, identify what is preventing effective delivery, agree the outcomes that matter, and put in place the governance and delivery structure required to achieve them.

A typical engagement follows four stages:

1. Assess & Align – Rapidly understand the current state, objectives, risks, delivery constraints, stakeholder landscape and existing commitments. Align senior stakeholders around the outcomes required.

2. Mobilise & Govern – Establish clear priorities, ownership, decision rights, governance, reporting and an integrated delivery plan. Create transparency around risks, dependencies and critical decisions.

3. Drive Delivery & Remediation – Lead execution across business, technology, security, suppliers and operational teams; remove blockers, manage dependencies and maintain executive focus on measurable outcomes.

4. Embed & Transition – Establish sustainable governance and operating practices, transfer accountability to permanent teams and provide a controlled transition into BAU.

Timeline: Engagements are tailored to the challenge. A focused assessment or health check can typically be completed within 2–4 weeks, while mobilisation, recovery and transformation leadership can continue for a defined period or operate as an ongoing fractional engagement.

Our Requirements of You

To achieve the strongest outcomes, I typically need:

  • Executive sponsorship and access to the key decision-makers relevant to the engagement.
  • Access to the right stakeholders and existing programme information to establish the current position quickly.
  • Transparency around risks, constraints and delivery challenges, including areas where progress has stalled.
  • Clear decision-making and escalation routes so blockers can be resolved at the appropriate level.
  • Active participation from accountable business, technology, security and operational owners where their input or action is required.

The aim is to work with the organisation’s existing structures wherever possible, introducing additional governance or process only where it materially improves delivery.

Our Commitments to You

Clients can expect me to provide:

  • Independent, objective leadership focused on the organisation’s outcomes rather than protecting existing structures, plans or assumptions.
  • Rapid establishment of clarity and control, particularly where delivery is complex, fragmented or has lost momentum.
  • Transparent communication, including early escalation of material risks, blockers and decisions rather than allowing problems to remain hidden.
  • Outcome-focused governance and reporting that gives executives the information they need to make decisions without unnecessary bureaucracy.
  • Hands-on leadership of delivery, working directly with business, technology, security, operational and supplier teams rather than operating purely in an advisory capacity.
  • Constructive challenge where required, while maintaining strong relationships across executive and delivery stakeholders.
  • Sustainable capability, leaving behind clearer ownership, governance, delivery structures and ways of working rather than creating dependency on external leadership.

My objective is simple: leave the organisation in a stronger, more controlled and more sustainable position than when the engagement began.

Deliverables

Deliverables are tailored to the engagement and may include:

  • Current-state assessment and executive findings, identifying material risks, delivery gaps, dependencies and priority interventions.
  • Prioritised transformation or remediation roadmap, translating cyber risk and strategic objectives into sequenced, accountable delivery.
  • Integrated programme plan, with clear outcomes, milestones, ownership and dependencies.
  • Governance and decision-making framework, including appropriate forums, accountabilities, escalation routes and reporting cadence.
  • Executive reporting and dashboards, providing concise visibility of progress, risk, blockers and decisions required.
  • Risk, issue, dependency and action management, with clear ownership and active resolution.
  • Programme recovery or mobilisation plan where an initiative requires rapid intervention or reset.
  • Stakeholder and supplier alignment, establishing clear responsibilities and delivery expectations across organisational boundaries.
  • Transition and handover plan, embedding sustainable ownership and governance within the organisation.

The precise deliverables are agreed at the outset and scaled to the complexity and duration of the engagement.

Available Service Engagement Models

*This service may be engaged via multiple engagement model options to provide maximum flexibility.

Project Based Engagement

Project based engagements operate on the basis of agreeing work and any outcomes or milestones for delivery in advance of commencement of any engagement in a ‘Statement of Work’. Prices are fixed for the agreed deliverables and should changes be required, these may incur changes to delivery costs. Payment for Project Based Engagements are agreed on a case-by-case basis, giving consideration to risk, contract value, client payment history, relationship longevity and duration.

Subscription Service

A HiveMind Subscription Service enables clients to flexibly engage with HiveMind Expert(s) in line with the subscription purchased. Subscriptions typically run for 12, 24 or 36 months or can also be arranged on a rolling 6 monthly basis. Subscriptions for 6 or 12 months are billed at the commencement of service, with billing for 24 or 36 month contracts taking place on the annual anniversary of subscription commencement.
