Delivered the design & setup of a group-wide IT eCommerce transformation portfolio incl. improved operational processes & new eCommerce digital trading solutions
The Situation
- An Investment management client (Cairngorm Capital) acquired a number of Merchant trading clients (B2B & B2C) which they wished to integrate into a single eCommerce trading solution
- To enable the above a group-wide eCommerce digital solution was procured to migrate the acquired businesses which were to be supplemented by centralised operational processes
The Task
- Identify, design & deliver centralised eCommerce digital trading services & operational processes along with a suite of eCommerce solutions (Magento, Kerridge Inventory, Plytix PIM, Stripe On-line Payment) which could be re-used to migrate & integrate other acquisitions
- Manage a portfolio of projects to design & deliver the above requirements incl. re-usable delivery processes & plans to manage the delivery of other acquisitions
The Action / Approach
- Established programme, project & delivery structures & governance
- Managed design & setup of improved, better connected & reusable best practice on-line trading processes with automated workflows, data collection, reporting & support processes
- Worked closely with IT & supplier teams to design, develop & deliver the eCommerce solutions with data imports from stock & inventory systems incl. data update/cleansing activities
- Worked closely with business & IT teams to design, develop & deliver improved & customised new websites for the acquired merchant traders for their clients to purchase & track products
- Worked closely with all teams to ensure the above operational processes & eCommerce solutions could be easily reused to migrate & integrate other acquired business entities
- Managed 3rd party IT service providers, change management, training & testing activities
The Result
- Delivered a group wide efficient & centralised eCommerce digital solution with on-line trading services & best practice processes which could be re-used to migrate & integrate other acquisitions
- Migrated 2 acquired trading clients (RBG, G&S) with migration approaches & plans agreed for 3 other clients which were to be managed via internal teams
- Improved the performance, stability/uptime, & flexibility of the eCommerce digital solutions, incl. on-line trading websites, with scalable SaaS cloud solutions
- This resulted in improved, better connected on-line trading services with improved relationships between support teams & customers, leading to increases in future sales potential
- Setup of customer portals, with up-to-date data, enabled customers to be self-sufficient in generating & tracking on-line purchases & deliveries which reduced staff support time
