The Situation

Headed up the companies eCommerce team. Identified that the current websites & platform were not aligned to our competitors (eg not mobile first, headless or cloud) nor business vision (international). I could compare our current website to an old vintage car, will get you there eventually but time, energy in maintaining and cash invested isn’t efficient. For example a promotions with 20% off X, would become a fully bespoke and time consuming project, most platforms have a comprehensive solution to run promotions at a click of a button.

We decided to replatform with the end goal of launching the business websites internationally. I also appointed international agencies to drive sessions onto our sites through social, digital, PPC and seo strategies, setup a MarComms team to effectively manage the trade calendar and online campaigns.

The Task

Conducted thorough consultations with department heads and key customers to understand all requirements.

Formed and monitored a Re-Platform Team that secured a £500k capex budget and managed the whole project.

The Action / Approach

Developed customer journey and Commerce Story Maps, identifying 17 potential platforms and shortlisting to two through SWOT analysis.

Appointed an industry expert to identify a future-proof platform supporting global business growth and results.

The Result

Ended up with a fully internationalised website that increased our online sales by 30% in just one year.
