The Situation

A media client intends to announce the sale of one of their businesses.

The Task

Support the internal communications for the sale of the business to a private equity buyer while retaining key talent and employee engagement in the process.

The Action / Approach

  • Co-created the plan and content for the three sale announcements to employees including Frequently Asked Questions, and separate briefing materials for the Sales team and People managers
  • Developed a ‘Proud to belong’ campaign to encourage employees to celebrate what they loved about the existing business and what they would like to take with them into the new business
  • Created the new business internal brand values and behaviours launch campaign and materials, including the engagement and training of local champions, exercises for managers to use with their teams, posters and Z cards
  • Engaged with global stakeholders across 14 workstreams to switch to the new brand following the sale

The Result

Employee engagement and key talent was retained throughout the 9-month sales process and launch of the newly branded business under private equity ownership.
