The Situation

Panda Retail, part of the Savola Group, was embarking on a large-scale $150-million business transformation. They needed to migrate their on-premise merchandise operations into a modern multi-cloud architecture spanning supply chain fulfilment, planning and forecasting, store operations, and a new data and analytics ecosystem using Oracle, Relex, JDA, AWS and Azure.

The Task

My task as Director of Architecture was to define the end-to-end architectural approach, stand up the architecture function, and ensure all solution decisions aligned with the wider business objectives and the multi-year transformation roadmap.

The Action / Approach

I built and led a team of ten architects, established the architecture governance framework, and delivered the programme blueprint, multi-year roadmap, and ten solution architectures across six major releases. I also drove the evaluation and implementation of new customer-experience and mCommerce platforms and supported other workstreams including next-generation in-store POS and AI-enabled weigh-scale pilots.

The Result

The result was the successful migration of more than 200,000 product lines onto the new cloud-based service, along with a governed, scalable architecture that enabled Panda to modernise core operations and accelerate digital capability across stores, supply chain, and customer touchpoints.
