The Situation

Sterilisation services had been in place since the inception of the medical device product and had not been market tested.

The initial agreement was agreed when the medical device was first introduced to the market and it was unknown whether the level of service or pricing was still competitive in the market or if there were technological advances that would benefit.

The Task

To investigate the requirements of the service and the options in the market.

To propose recommendations to senior leaders and inform future planning.

The Action / Approach

We conducted an analysis of the service requirements, taking an in-depth look at each stage of the process and the performance levels of the incumbent service provider.

Additionally, we utilised client resource at the global level to conduct a ‘should cost’ to test the market price. This was used alongside other market intelligence gathered to confirm if the client was receiving value for money.

We sourced the market for upcoming technologies and alternative ways of performing the service required. We also investigated the capital cost of bringing the service in-house.

The Result

The recommendations were proposed to senior leaders who agreed with the proposal to restructure the service with the incumbent supplier in the short- and medium- term.

Long term investment was made to ensure thatĀ future services were brought in house.
