The Situation

AEVI International GmbH’s acquirer bank customer wanted to integrate its instance of AEVI’s PaaS Marketplace web portal with a Payment Service Provider (PSP) to enable recurring subscription payments by merchants for 3rd party B2B Android apps.

The Task

I was engaged to research regulatory issues and to assess the impact of the change on the acquirer bank’s operating model and on the PaaS web portal system architecture.

The Action / Approach

Liaised with Product Owners to document requirements/user stories; provided SME in discussions with acquirer bank; researched US regulation & statutes for recurring card payments; created short list of potential legal liability risks; created business & system process models for PSP’s API; and proposed operating model.

-Make more informed decisions, quickly, objectively and transparently
-Improved confidence in and quality and repeatability of documents, artifacts and models
-Help to understand complexity
-Build credibility and trust across the business

The Result

Succeeded by identifying regulatory & legal liabilities to enable AEVI & the acquirer bank to make an informed business decision, based on an understanding of the regulatory obligations, the further due diligence that would be required, the changes to the acquirer bank’s call centre operations that would be required and an outline system architecture for the required integration piece.
