Adaptive Capability Diagnostic
Service Summary
A multi-day organizational diagnostic that shows you exactly where your adaptive capability is strong, where it’s fragile, and what to do about it.
Typical Benefits
Clients who go through the ACD walk away with three things most organizations never have:
- An honest picture of their current adaptive maturity
- A clear understanding of why certain transformations keep failing
- A prioritized roadmap they actually own.
Longer term, the work tends to surface a significant reduction in consultant dependency and a leadership team that stops reacting to change and starts moving ahead of it.
Overview
Most organizations don’t struggle because change is hard. They struggle because they’ve never invested in their capacity to change. Every transformation gets treated like a one-off renovation — bring in outside help, tear things apart, put them back together, hope it sticks. Then the next wave hits and the cycle starts over.
The Adaptive Capability Diagnostic (ACD) is designed to break that cycle. Using the Adaptive Capability Ecosystem (ACE) framework, the ACD evaluates your organization across six interconnected capability dimensions: how you sense and respond to change, how your governance and infrastructure actually function under pressure, whether you’re growing internal capability or staying permanently dependent on external support, how deeply adaptive behaviors are embedded in your culture, how your leaders show up when things are ambiguous, and whether your execution and sustainment systems are built to last.
The output isn’t a report that sits in a drawer. It’s a maturity profile, a strategic roadmap, and enough clarity to make decisions — whether you engage further or take it forward internally.
APPROACH
The engagement runs over multiple days and is structured in three phases.
Phase 1 — Discovery and Data Collection This is where the real work begins. I conduct structured interviews with six to ten key leaders and change practitioners, review past transformation documentation, governance artifacts, and change management materials, and examine your current initiative portfolio for patterns in how changes succeed, stall, or quietly disappear.
Phase 2 — Analysis and Maturity Scoring I analyze all inputs against the six ACE dimensions and score your organization’s current maturity across each one. This is where patterns emerge — I identify the gaps that explain a lot of what leadership has sensed but couldn’t quite address.
Phase 3 — Findings, Roadmap, and Decision Point An executive readout walks through the full maturity profile, the priority capability gaps, and the root causes underneath them. Then we move into an interactive roadmap session to prioritize what comes next — quick wins, foundation work, and longer-term capability development — sequenced in a way that’s realistic for your organization.
What you receive: A visual maturity dashboard across all six ACE dimensions. A comprehensive findings report (typically 40 to 60 pages). A strategic roadmap with phased initiatives and success metrics. An implementation planning template with a 90-day action plan. A 60-day follow-up session.
TIMELINE
Kickoff to final roadmap delivery: 4 to 6 weeks.
The diagnostic itself runs 2 to 3 days on-site (or hybrid where geography requires). Analysis and report development happens between sessions. The executive readout and roadmap session are typically scheduled within two weeks of the data collection phase.

Available Service Engagement Model
Project Based Engagement
Project based engagements operate on the basis of agreeing work and any outcomes or milestones for delivery in advance of commencement of any engagement in a ‘Statement of Work’. Prices are fixed for the agreed deliverables and should changes be required, these may incur changes to delivery costs. Payment for Project Based Engagements are agreed on a case-by-case basis, giving consideration to risk, contract value, client payment history, relationship longevity and duration.
