London based consultancy distributing FMCG products, operates in Europe and Africa and exclusive distributor for BAT (British American Tobacco)  in Nigeria.

Greenfield project –

Focused on creating and delivering an IT strategy with business solutions architecture, underpinning rapidly business expansion plans.

Difficult working environment in Africa, right skills set of employees, IT and communication infrastructure, challenge to select right vendors for the business.

The Task

Build state of the art IT infrastructure and business solutions to connect 80+ distribution locations and implement right ERP, keeping in mind vendor support, solution availability and IT infrastructure and skill shortage in Africa. Connecting all locations with London HQ.

Moreover, the solutions should meet the expectations of the companies we are distributing products in the region.

  • Create Digital Strategy: Developed digital strategy that aligns with organisation’s business goals and considering technology and workforce availability in the region.
  • Engaging with Senior Leadership Team- Ensuring commitment and support from top leadership as digital transofrmation requires a cultural change and leadership buy-in is crucial for success.
  • Created cross functional team in every region, ensuring collaboration and communication across the team.
  • Aligning hard and soft skills – ensuring right tools and training to make team comfortable with new technologies and encourage a smooth transition.
  • Continuous improvement- ensuring digital transformation strategy align with business objectives and it meets our key performance indicators.
  • Selecting right business partners and technology providers.

The Result

  • Created multi-functional team of 18, across all IT functions to achieve organisation’s goals. Established relationships with key suppliers, leveraging vendor capabilities & delivering value for money.
  • Delivered IT management, including systems development, testing, service management, training, and support.
  • Monitored IT / operational performance, budgetary controls of $4M, SLAs & internal KPI metrics.
  • Implemented VSATs solution to connect remote locations with Head Office, improving communications. Introduced VoIP telephony solutions for Western Africa to successfully reduced telecom costs to zero.
  • Successfully deployed an integrated Navision ERP solution, across the business. Delivered a Global Tracking System for Nigeria’s operation, supporting the reliable transportation of goods and brought down logistics cost by 30%.
