The Situation

The CTO of a Tier 1 bank wanted to start moving towards “Netfilx style” Microservices. The first use case identified was a “Watch List Management Microservice” to address issue with list management across Financial Crime Risk and Compliance. I was asked to lead the Microservice programme for the bank.

The Task

My client, who reported to the CTO, told me: “I need you to design, build and operationalise a centralised list management platform using microservice architecture”.

The Action / Approach

I mobilised a team that consisted of a business architect (with microservice experience), business analysts, data architects, data modellers and product SMEs to define the scope of the project.
We defined the scope in terms of the required governance, process and technology changes required to deliver a Centralised List Management Platform.
We set up project using agile delivery methods to define and prioritise the Features, Epics and Stories for the Centralised List Management Platform.

The Result

Delivered the bank’s first “Netflix style” Microservice to centralise list management and achieve greater Financial Crime compliance.
Established the new governance model, embed standardised process and deployed the new tech components in 3 months and within budget.
Deliver 20 Features, 100 Epics and over 500+ Stories that resulted in a fully compliant Centralised List Management Platform Microservice and 100% business adoption.
Deployed the Woodhurst Agile Blueprint to embed agile deliver practices that are now utilised across the bank.
