The Situation

Corporate HQ wanted to identify $1bn in savings globally to deliver new strategy.  The European leadership identified wanted to maximise contribution towards this goal through looking at savings across all operations, focused on shared services. To identify the areas for cost reduction a closed, pre-consultation cost reduction process was needed.

The Task

I was appointed by the Shared services lead to facilitate the process through which multiple scenarios for cost reduction across the site would be developed, collated, tested for savings potential and delivered through implementation plans.

The Action / Approach

I

  • Coordinated review of capability and cost spanning 18 months to produce complete insight into headcount and expenses
  • Developed comprehensive source of truth for tracking progress and assessing outcome scenarios
  • Managed project plan during preparatory stages, ensuring review readiness and optimized decision making

The Result

£100m of cost savings were identified prior to submission and sign off at a company and union level.

These savings are currently being delivered over a 24 month period.
