Introducing the Product Factory

Using the Product Factory approach to accelerate delivery at a utility company.
This study shows how a utility company cut costs by 60%, and reduced lead times by 75%, using the Product Factory approach. It also explains some of the other benefits that the approach brings to companies looking to scale their accelerated delivery capability.

Unified stand-up goals – a self governing practice

I’ve been working with a client undergoing a change to more effective ways of working across the organisation. There are several Agile/Lean methods being practiced across the business for a multitude of work types. SCRUM is being used for some software delivery work and the Kanban Method for others. There’s a number of teams using a mixture of both and some teams simply visualise their line-of-business operational work and meet every day at a set time to discuss it…… which is fine……… for now.

Hire an Ex-Army Commander and Boost Business Performance

Army commanders, at all levels are educated to meet the operational challenges of the networked environment, the methods that prepare them for War have been scientifically developed to equip them to thrive on responsibility and challenge. The traditional chain of command has transformed to ensure that response-ability is delegated down to confident commanders at every level. One must remember that this responsibility is in the context of routine life threatening consequences and limited resources.

“Digital Strategy” is so much more than marketing

According to a recent MCA survey, 94% of UK senior executives see digital as important or very important to their business. Often in terms of marketing.

Is your digital transformation truly transformative?

Caz and I are digital transformation consultants. We have had lots of experience at NixonMcinnes, of writing strategies and helping organisations to develop new mindsets for the 21st century. We have worked hard internally in organisations to help them adjust to the challenges of a disrupted, digital marketplace.

What we noticed was that no one really seemed (seems?) to have a handle on what digital transformation entailed, and for many it just meant doing the same stuff as always but on mobile, cloud or tablet.

Integrating Color Into Your Workplace

Chromatophobia is the fear of colour. A lot of people have this phobia, especially in the workplace. Although leaders are often willing to change technology and the design of their physical office, they are often afraid to introduce colour in a way that would make them stand out. Yet, colour is one of the least expensive and most dramatic ways to change the feel of a space. Your office doesn’t have to look like a Mardi Gras parade explosion to change your daily experience.

Don’t be an Animal in business.

There was a natural disruption at the end of the Cretaceous period, 66 million years ago, which is widely thought to have brought with it a mass extinction that killed off over half the species on the planet. The ones that survived flourished.

Coworking: Two Lessons For Corporate Leaders

Coworking is now recognised as more than a passing trend; the movement is rapidly growing and evolving. Why do people love it so much and what can we learn about coworking that might influence our everyday work experience inside a more conventional company? I had an opportunity to talk with the owner of the largest coworking company in Northern New England and this is what I learned.
