The Situation

Royal Mail’s IT was all serviced in-house and was a very fixed cost reducing the senior management’s ability to transform Royal Mail

The Task

Reduce the in house IT cost from £400-330M and manage the Outsource of £330M per year IT cost down (by half) by outsourcing it through EU Public Procurement

Change it from fixed to variable cost

The Action / Approach

I did the above between 2000 and 2003, leading the procurement and the negotiation of a 10 year Prime/Sub megadeal (ending up costing £1.45bn)

The Result

Advertised in OJEU Journal as 10 year deal worth £3.3bn

Delivered 10 year deal costing £1.45bn
