The Situation

Norfolk social smallholding needed a five-year strategic growth plan to unlock funding and scale wellbeing impact across the local community.

The Task

Pro bono engagement via the Norfolk Community Foundation’s Good for Good Skills Exchange to design a comprehensive five-year growth plan for Field of Joy — a smallholding supporting adults and children to improve wellbeing, reduce isolation, and build connection with each other and with nature.

The Action / Approach

Conducted founder discovery to capture the social mission, theory of change, and capacity constraints. Mapped current activity, beneficiary reach, and funding mix. Built a five-year growth model across phases — consolidate, strengthen, scale. Identified named funding opportunities aligned to each phase. Drafted, iterated, and signed off on the plan with the founders.

The Result

Field of Joy adopted a five-year growth plan as their primary funding application and strategic decision tool. Founders described it as “amazing… so hugely helpful” (Caitlin) and “what a resource!” (Liz). Recognised by the Norfolk Community Foundation as an exemplar Skills Exchange delivery — “smashing it again for a brilliant local organisation” (Lauren, NCF). Forms part of the body of pro bono delivery that contributed to Wingfield Consultants winning the National Mentoring Matters Excellence in Mentoring Award 2024.
