Revolutionising Organisational Transparency: The Playbook Initiative
The Situation
Situation:
When I joined the organisation, I quickly noticed a significant issue: there was a clear lack of transparency regarding the company’s objectives. New contractors were particularly affected, as they found it challenging to understand their roles and goals within the broader context of the organisation. This absence of streamlined and centralised information led to various inefficiencies, causing both wasted time and squandered resources.
The Task
Task:
Recognising the gravity of the problem and understanding the long-term implications it might have on the company’s growth, I took it upon myself to rectify the situation. It was clear that the organisation needed a comprehensive guide or system in place that could provide clarity about the company’s goals, help new contractors integrate more smoothly, and ensure all resources were used optimally.
The Action / Approach
Action:
I began by consulting with different departments and teams, seeking feedback about their experiences and gathering insights into how information was shared and understood. From the feedback, I then designed a ‘Playbook.’ This Playbook was an all-encompassing guide that clarified the company’s mission, values, and goals. It also incorporated onboarding materials for new contractors, ensuring they had a clear understanding of their roles and responsibilities from day one. Moreover, I made sure that the Playbook was easily accessible and user-friendly, so that employees could refer to it whenever needed.
The Result
Result:
Post-implementation of the Playbook, the transformation was evident. New contractors reported feeling more informed and confident about their roles, leading to quicker integration and less time wasted on clarifying objectives. The organisation as a whole benefited from clearer communication, resulting in better-aligned goals and more efficient use of resources. This not only boosted morale but also positively impacted our bottom line, proving that transparency and accessibility of information are critical for an organisation’s success.
