Service Summary

We help organisations rebalance their software development investment and develop the right outcome driven development capabilities

Typical Benefits

We help executives understand the impact of their current software development investment, and implement an outcome driven approach that allows them to build the right software development capabilities according to the needs of their business.

Typical areas where value is realised;
-Higher proportion of projects fit for purpose, on time and on budget
-Able to Clearly Demonstrate Value to the Business
-Greater acceptance of change and quicker to implement new changes
-Improved credibility with and confidence from across the business
-Improved project estimation and delivery capability (right first time)
-Improved delivery efficiency and effectiveness from clarity around process performance

Pains typically relieved include;
– Lack of alignment between the business strategy and execution
– Large levels of unplanned development work
-Poor project/portfolio pipeline planning and estimation process
-Weak project prioritisation, approval, compliance and sponsorship
-Lack of clarity or understanding on operational readiness requirements
-Business restructure or reprioritisations

Overview

We start by performing an assessment, looking at prior development performance and practices, and how these relate to the business strategy.

Using this as a basis, we then look at the capabilities the organisation needs to develop if it is to create a value and outcome driven software engineering department

We then provide a roadmap for implementing this change, for developing these capabilities that allows for very high levels of alignment between their strategic goals and the execution.

This process typically takes 1 month to complete, at which point the client can begin to implement change with a baseline they can use to assess their performance.

Depending on the client needs, we can support them in the implementation of this approach, providing supporting services to their executive team as well as product management and engineering leads.

This enables:

-Better decision making using return on investment calculations
-Increased visibility of benefits realised from delivery of projects
-Increased transparency of costs / effort
-The right capabilities and capacity to deliver according to the needs of the business

Our Requirements of You

The organisation already has 1 or more software development teams.

They are aware of agile approaches, may even be implementing Scrum but aren’t seeing the results they need.

The business does not have a clear view on what value their engineering investment is really providing.
