My Background Details
I have been a freelance career coach, consultant and business owner for 18 years, following redundancy (along with 900 others in a site closure) from what was then J&B Scotland Ltd. (green whisky bottle with yellow and red label!) and is now Diageo.

In that corporate environment I was a change agent, communications advisor, L&D advisor and IT analyst and trainer.

Key achievements were in employee development, open learning, organisational development and coaching; teams, individuals and leaders.

Prior to that I held a number of roles in IT.

I have a postgraduate diploma in Information Management and an Arts degree.
Current Role Details
I have a portfolio career and provide coaching services privately and as an associate for a number of consultancies.

Situation
A large pharmaceutical company designated its Scottish medical devices site for closure, with the resulting loss of 400 jobs. The closure was receiving a great deal of media attention.


Task
To support the HR Team, Senior Management Team and Employees in navigating outplacement and deliver support services and advice.

Action
Liaised with the HR and Senior Team on site, consulting and supporting.
Delivered 1:1 sessions and workshops - Getting Started, Career Assessment, CV development, Approaching the Market, Interview Success, Networking, LinkedIn, Third Sector, Self employment: Right for You, Basics and Interim, Contracting and Consulting
Liaised with outplacement consultancy colleagues, PACE and external training providers.
Gathered feedback.

Results
Ensured that everyone on site, irrespective of their role received appropriate support to help them make decisions and take action about their future. The site closed on time and the project came in on budget.

Situation
A large IT company identified that many of it's workforce, while highly skilled, did not have all the appropriate skills for new leaner business models and digital transformation.

Task
To research and deliver webinars providing information about which skills were at a premium and where, the value of those skills and how to access up-skilling opportunities.

Action
Contacted colleagues in Experis to help put together a picture of the current IT recruitment landscape, skills gaps, skills premiums and geographies. Ensured relevant and up to date data.
Collaborated with contacts to design slide pack and script.
Delivered by webinar as a precursor to training.
Gathered feedback.

Results
Ensured company and employee confidence and competitiveness around having the right IT skills for the future.
