DELIVERY ROLE HISTORY
BARCLAYS (IBM) - Project Delivery

(Show / Hide Details)

Delivery and Achievements
As part of the project to implement a Global Investment Solution, I delivered a 56x LPAR solution across 4 p595 frames including dedicated resource LPARs, TSM servers, SOCKS servers, NIM servers, dual-VIOS, VIOCs, HACMP, DLPAR, Oracle RAC, PowerBroker, Websphere, TSM, Siteminder, Tibco and various applications on local SCSI and EMC SAN disk (SRDF & non-SRDF). I was heavily involved in re-designing the final solution after discovering several short-comings and other improvements in the original design. I built multiple NIM and VIOS servers from scratch and was involved in the SAN allocations and Networking patching on this project. As well as building the kit, I took part in the hardware/environment Testing, Disaster Recovery configuration and testing as well as OS Hardening (ISeC) and Service Activation to enable handover into IBM BAU Support and then subsequently was involved in the handover of the working environment to the customer to support.
CO-OPERTIVE (IBM) - Solutions Architect

Delivery and Achievements
I produced the Detailed Designs (Level 3) for the pSeries/AIX solutions using HACMP 2-node clusters involving Oracle and DB2 shared resources on p570 LPARS running AIX 5.3 for the Enterprise Platform Release 1 project.
ROYAL SUN ALLIANCE (IBM) - Project Delivery

(Show / Hide Details)

Delivery and Achievements
I built the midrange software solutions for IBM on pSeries hardware (p570). I was part of the UK based team that managed the whole of the RSA work requests. Solutions I delivered involved HACMP, Db2, Oracle, TSM, Tivoli Monitoring, Websphere, MQ, TLM, SRM and Remedy using internal SCSI and SAN disk via single and dual VIOS. I had to approve the detailed design documentation based on my experience and knowledge of the intended hardware and infrastructure. I configured p570’s from arrival on-site, dual VIOS and client LPARS from scratch, designed the network cabling to ensure maximum resilience, used DLPAR to re-assign resources upon failover, modified VIOS with extra adapters and SAN storage (DS8000), used aggregated lan adapters and multiple SEA’s on VIOS to enable communication via two different network subnet ranges (aka VLAN tagging). Once built, I had to ensure and document that each LPAR adhered to GSD331/ITCS104 standards (security) and this process formed part of the Service Activation process each LPAR had to pass through before going into live service. I also produced the Disaster Recovery documentation and supported the BAU team after delivery. I had to prioritise my workload as I worked for multiple Project Managers at the same time. Part of my role included supporting the BAU team in India when they could solve a problem in the live environment. I performed on-site work (upgrades and consultancy) at RSA in Liverpool, IBM in Greenford (Disaster Recovery tests) and IBM in Lennox Wood, Horsham.

Delivery and Achievements
This role involved being an AIX Resource for Bank implementation projects. I was allocated to many projects for different lengths of time to perform the UNIX build tasks according to Level 3 Design documentation. Projects: • Group Audit (5 months) – delivery of two, two-node HACMP (v5.3) clusters running AIX (v5.2), Websphere, AAJ & Documentum applications. Build and configuration of OS, HACMP, Sightline, Bindview, Athene, SSH (unprompted), TSM client & Tivoli monitoring. DLPAR scripted to re-allocate cpu from Production Support LPARS within same CEC upon failover. Two testing LPARS also built and configured. • Bindview v7 & v8 (3 months) – rollout of software across the Bank’s entire UNIX estate. • SIP-Correspondence – configuring live & test Oracle & Websphere LPARS with AIX using IBM Cryptographic adapters. Preparation of LUNs for Oracle RAC 10g ASM disks. • Pre-provisioning project (2 months) – building power 5 LPARS/Blades using VIO for LAN adapters and shared storage. Installing and configuring TWS, Websphere, preparing for Oracle install, HTTP, Bindview, Athene, TSM and SSH. Prior to the technical implementation on these assignments, I was required to raise the relevant Change Request records and present them to the relevant Change Advisory Board (CAB) prior to implementation. Build work including Operating System build/configuration, testing and pre-live Support. Subsequent to each piece of work, I provided gateway (Support handover) documentation and infrastructure presentations of what was being delivered to allow the projects to go live.
