A Call To Arms – Initial Brainstorm

Dial in details at the bottom…

If you’re anything like me, you’ll be gripped in some way or another by Coronavirus. It’s impact on everyone’s life is and will likely continue to be huge for some time. To cope with many factors, we’re all likely going to have to pivot to some degree; quickly. Many projects will be paused, contracts will be put on hold, there’s a lot to consider for business when people can’t or aren’t used to remote working, let alone isolating.

However, there are many that won’t see as huge a practical change to their daily routine as others. Many normally work from home anyway for instance. For those who do, myself included, we’ve spent years or even decades working without direct supervision, often on our own for long periods, using phones or other tech like FaceTime or Skype to remain connected to others.

The number of factors to consider with changes like those we’re presented with are many and complex. From the top of my head;

  • Technology challenges (obviously)
  • Motivational challenges (especially those normally more closely supervised)
  • Practical challenges (some things just need people to be together or around tooling etc)
  • Distraction challenges, (many can’t stop thinking or worrying about this, justifiably)
  • Isolation

I bet there’s a dozen+ more.

So what are some of the things we, as a network, could be doing together and for each other? Our central team are used to dealing with some of the issues above and have found some ways to work with them over the years as remote workers. Many others will have too. There’s expertise in technology and ‘ways of working’ that can help with this within our network, as well as coaches, wellbeing professionals etc. We have the ability to help motivate and support each other and our clients, while albeit, (hopefully) temporarily adjusting our focus…

What I’m proposing is initially a brainstorming call – to first share ideas or at least organise into groups that can coordinate around creating both internal support services for each other, whilst drawing some focus around ‘pivoting’ to use our collective knowledge and experience to create new services and offerings that will both really help and support clients, whilst using our time productively and generating work to keep our collective and individual economic ‘heads above water’.

I’ve set up a call to start with for this Friday at 3pm UK time. Please join if you’re able. Also, if you’d like to help with facilitation or anything like that, please let me know. Now might also be a good time to think of others that fit our values and intentions and nominate them if you think we can help them.

In the meantime, I hope you and yours are as safe as you can be.
