The economics of AI adoption: why performance dips before it improves, and how to set leadership expectations going in – so the dip doesn’t get mistaken for failure.
Your speaker:
Abdul Parker
Dr Abdul Parkar has more than 35 years’ experience as an operational excellence practitioner, coach and trainer. He has worked in 10 countries across regulated financial services, telecoms, local government, and healthcare, combining operational excellence methods such as Lean Six Sigma, Kaizen, and Toyota Kata with AI. He has served as a Non-Executive Director for several organisations and as a Strategy Advisor to 3 government ministers in the Middle East.
He has published more than 20 papers on operational excellence and the economics of AI deployment, including the J-curve of AI value. What he kept seeing across all of that work is the gap his book is about: organisations investing in AI, and not getting the improvement they expected.
He believes the future belongs to organisations where improvement is not just a programme, but a living, breathing part of organisational identity.
He is the author of Operational Excellence Culture: Leading Innovation in the AI Era, published in August 2026.
